Where All the Seasons Come Alive!
Towering pines and winding rivers greeted the lumber barons of the 1800′s. Today visitors are greeted by six communities offering the arts, a wonderful array of dining experiences, boutique and national chain stores, attractions, and lodging. Wausau/Central Wisconsin has become the home to many well known companies, including Wausau Insurance, Wausau Homes (design home tours available), Kolbe Windows, Wausau Papers, and Eastbay. Agriculture remains a mainstay with Marathon County growing 95% of the nation’s ginseng (87% is exported to Asia) and Wisconsin’s largest dairy (3,000 head of cattle!) The Wausau area is proud to offer great recreational opportunities all year long, especially in the winter. Hiking, biking, cross-country and downhill skiing, kayaking, canoeing, tubing and snowshoeing are just the beginning!
